Once, a teacher scolded me for painting snow blue – it was supposed to be white! When I shared this with my grandmother, who was also a painter, she laughed and said, “Then she must have never really looked at snow!” To her – and to me – snow is full of color, with warm and cool tones, and unmistakable hints of blues and reds.
This painting captures the view of a neighbor’s firewood shed on a crisp winter’s day, when the snow and surrounding colors seem to glow in all their richness.
